Hospital Workers Punished For Peeking at Clooney File
Turns out A lot more people than George Clooney and his girlfriend were hurt by the Hollywood hunks motorcycle accident last month.
As many as 40 doctors and other employees at the Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J., got suspensions for allegedly leaking confidential medical information about the couple in violation of federal law, according to broadcast and Internet reports.
Told about the fallout firings, Clooney went to bat for the workers:
PMC spokesman Eurice Rojas couldnt be reached for comment, but the hospital said in a statement it takes any violation of a law seriously and that it was investigating.
Clooney broke a rib and got scraped up in the Sept. 21 crash in Weehawken, while his passenger, Sarah Larson, broke her foot when their motorcycle collided with a car on a narrow street.
Those suspended were accused of passing Clooneys medical records on to the press.
Seven members of the Health Professionals and Allied Employees Union were suspended without pay for four weeks, said spokeswoman Jeanne Oterson.

George Clooney Injured in Motorcycle Accident
George Clooney and his girlfriend, Sarah Larson, were injured Friday when the motorcycle they were riding was clipped by a car in New Jersey, according to several media reports.
Fortunately, the Hollywood hunk and his new companion - who were both wearing helmets - managed to escape the accident with only broken bones and road rash.
Clooney suffered a broken rib while Larson, 28, broke her foot, the actors rep, Stan Rosenfield said. Both were treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J., and released.
“Hes doing fine,” Rosenfield said of his client, who just last week was in Boston to present the Boston Film Festivals lifetime achievement award to mega-producer Jerry Weintraub. “He has a broken rib. Its very painful and itll take a long time to heal.”
According to police, the 46-year-old Oceans 11 star was driving his Harley-Davidson north on Boulevard East in Weehawken, N.J., at 3:30 p.m. when he collided with a 1999 Mazda Millenia.
Clooney, whos been in the Big Apple to film his dark comedy Burn After Reading, told cops he was driving in the right lane when the other driver, identified as Albert Sciancaledore, 27, sped up to try and pass him before making a right turn, Weehawken police Sgt. Sean Kelly told press.
However, Sciancaledore insists it was the silver-screen star who was passing on the right - illegal in New Jersey - as he attempted to make a right turn in his Mazda on the two-lane road.
“Its a he-said, she-said right now, but you cant pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey,” Kelly said.
The crash remains under investigation.
